A Jon Hopkins mini-mix

A Jon Hopkins mini-mix

For the last couple of years BBC1 has been throwing open its studio doors to a select few producers ‘from the underground and the arena’ to take up a residency in its BBC Radio 1 Residency series. The idea is simple: give a well known identity from the electronic music  world the opportunity to host his or her own radio show, on the world’s most renowned radio station for a set amount of time.

Earlier this year Cake artist Jon Hopkins was invited to take up a 6 month residency which gave him the opportunity to indulge through his entire spectrum of electronic music preferences. As expected, his track selections went from serenely downbeat (no surprise there considering his background as a soundtrack composer) to dancefloor-friendly techno cuts (no surprise here either, his last album ‘Immunity’ was littered with dance-floor heavy beats). Now Hopkins has made a mini-mix featuring  tracks he played from the 5th and 8th show, and in true Jon Hopkins-style, it takes in all sorts of electronic music.
